Our ancestors have been weaving Paithani sarees for generations now. The art of weaving Paithani sarees has survived under changing rulers. While it took birth in Paithan, the then capital of Satvahana Dynasty in 200 BCunder the patronage of the Satvahana dynasty of kings, it progressed throughout the Deccan region. The Mughals, the Nizam of Hyderabad and then the Peshwas of Pune and now the Government of India together with the Government of Maharashtra and private enterprises like Shatika have appreciated the art and have taken measures in keeping this incredible art going.
